Ontario Off-Road Riding Community Mourns Loss of Blake MacMillan

Ontario's off-road riding community is mourning the loss of Blake MacMillan, who was fatally injured on Sunday, May 1st, while off road motorcycling in the Calabogie Highlands.

Margaux MacMillan and the MacMillan family have requested donations in lieu of flowers to the Bytown Motorcycle Association (BMA), an off-road organization that Blake loved, and had high hopes for. The BMA is now receiving donations to the Fund utilizing the form at the bottom of this page.

The BMA will take time to consult with Margaux on how fund proceeds can be best utilized to reflect Blake's aspirations for the BMA and its members. These decisions will be posted in due course on this website and through email to persons donating.

Blake was an advanced trials and off-road rider who contributed unselfishly to the development of the skills of other riders, including those of his beloved wife, Margaux. Blake's smile to us is evident in this photo - taken at the Novice Skills Camp he led the day before his accident. Blake's enthusiasm for helping others led him to become the BMAs Director of Training and he joined the Board of Directors in January of this year.

Blake was also the Lead Coach for the Para-Alpine Program at Camp Fortune, and strongly believed in gym-based training for off-road motorcyclists to improve riding skills. He was a doctoral candidate in sociology and anthropology at Carleton University. Also, see news article re: Blake growing up in Wakefield.

Those those that would like to offer condolences and to remember Blake, may drop by a gathering to be held on Saturday May 21 between 5:30 and 8:00 pm at Backdrop, 160 Metcalfe Street, Ottawa.

Ontario's riding community offers their deepest sympathy to Margaux, his family and friends.

You may select to pay by credit card via PayPal (you do not need an account) or by cheque. After completing the form, please click the SUBMIT button once (and be patient) to complete your donation, and you will be provided with further instructions at the bottom of the web page when it refreshes. Instructions will also be sent by email to the address you enter below. Not all Apple operating systems work well with this form. You may mail cheques directly to: Bytown Motorcycle Association, C/O 1040 Chemin Klock, Gatineau, QC, J9J 3H2.
