Heard a bang from inside, shelving let loose after 30+ years. Fortunately so much is crammed in to 1/2 of garage that bike could not fall over all the way.

I need to have a word with that handyman about shoddy workmanship. Oh, wait...

To complete the story, about 2 weeks after the inciden I noticed a fresh and fair-sized dent in my street bike tank. It was parked further from the shelves, I didn't clean up anything that could have done this damage, and didn't see anything left on the ground to explain it. Shrugged and forgot about it.

While de-winterizing today (converting my "2 car" garage from a 1 car garage to a no car garage) I found the culprit on the far side of the bike. An axle stand dropped from top shelf packs a punch:
