Why Volunteer?

  • Volunteers are essential to the sustainability and future of the club
  • Ensure BMA riding events and activities continue
  • Fulfill your membership requirement (minimum 4 hours per year)
  • Connect with other club members
  • Support advocacy efforts to protect and maintain riding areas
  • Learn local trails and riding systems
  • Enjoy riding with family and friends while supporting the club

What will I be asked to do?
There are numerous volunteer activities available for riders of all levels. Activities include, but are not
limited to:

  • Trail clearance
  • Leading and organizing club events
  • Helping run club events – set up, registration, sound testing, parking
  • Helping explore and map new trails
  • Guiding small groups of riders
  • Placing directional arrows on trails in advance of events
  • Sweeping trails and removing arrows following events
  • Promote the BMA

If selected as a volunteer, a BMA Event Coordinator will contact you directly before the event.

How to Volunteer

  • Volunteer opportunities are linked to specific events
  • Review the event calendar and choose where to help
  • Select the volunteer sign-up link during event registration
  • Copy and paste your preferred activities from the list above into the comments box

Not sure where to start? Submit your interest in volunteering to get involved.

The event organizer and/or volunteer coordinator will monitor volunteer returns and communicate directly with the volunteers to fill vacancies, arrange training as required, make adjustments, and coordinate details. The event organizer will also provide feedback to the volunteer during and following the event, as necessary.

The last step in the process is to record your volunteer hours.

Recording volunteer hours

Select “Record Volunteer Hours” to log your hours.

The club uses the “recorded hours” to recognize the contribution of volunteers, to determine the overall of club volunteer participation, and to use the data in discussions with interested stakeholders.
