LOCATION: Area 31 – 5480 Bank Street, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, K1X 1G9

REGISTRATION: Click the Sign-Up button to register. We expect this event to be quite popular. Vacancies will be allocated on a priority basis to those members wishing to volunteer for club rides; however, everyone with an interest is encouraged to register.

COST: Free for BMA members and only open to BMA members. A $5 donation is requested to cover refreshments.

LUNCH: None Provided.

SUMMARY: This event is aimed at new riders or folks eager to renew their basic skills for the upcoming riding season. It is a fun and relaxed environment with some easy-to-moderate challenges to help build skills and confidence.

The course will cover basic riding techniques, equipment, and enduro bike handling.

THE RIDE PLAN: Basis skills training in small groups. Demonstrations followed by guided practice sessions and coaching will help members learn and improve on basic bike handling and riding skills.

Participants should be mindful of their capabilities and are encouraged to ride within their limits. Please consult the BMA skills assessment to gauge your current riding level.

Current level of competency assessment criteria

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ensure your bike is registered, plated and insured and in top condition.
  • An OFTR membership or Day Pass is required to ride Area 31.
  • Bring proper protective equipment.
  • Bring plenty of hydration and trail snacks such as energy bars.
  • Note the weather for the day and dress appropriately.
