SUMMARY:

The BMA is holding its spring Calabogie orientation ride in memory of Blake MacMillan. This event will bring members of the community together for a Calabogie south-side orientation ride with some trail clean-up as needed.

As one of the first BMA events of the season, it will allow riders to get to know each other and familiarize themselves with the trail system. it is suitable for advanced novice to expert riders but is NOT suitable for children or beginners. Riders under 16 years of age need to be strong riders.

THE RIDE PLAN: Please be geared up and ready for the riders’ meeting, which will start at 10:00 am. Riders will self-select into three riding groups of varying skill levels. Experienced riders will lead and sweep each group.

Most trails will be single-track, although dirt roads and ATV tracks may be used as connectors. Calabogie can be a challenging ride area. Intermediate riders can expect to ride approximately 50 km, novices less, experts more.

Participants should be mindful of their capabilities and are encouraged to ride within their limits. Please consult the BMA skills assessment to gauge your current riding level.
